About the Event
Dr. Naomi Lawrence-Reid, M.D. is a Pediatrician and founder of Doctoring Differently, a course and coaching platform designed to teach Physicians of all specialties how to transition out of full-time clinical and academic practice while starting lucrative and flexible Physician careers that best utilize their medical training and experience. Her unique methodology also provides a step-by-step guide on obtaining individual and family health insurance, retirements benefits, and medical malpractice for each unique Physician's venture.
Dr. Lawrence-Reid initially intended on a career as a pediatric emergency medicine specialist, but she was unwilling to yield to the confines of restrictive hospital contracts, non-negotiable salaries, exhaustive administrative duties, and oppressive call schedules. Without an MBA or formal financial training, she left full-time academic medicine in 2017 to create her own career through a blend of per-diem contracts, locum tenens assignments, telemedicine, medical curriculum development, Veteran disability exams (yes, a pediatrician seeing adults!), medical expert witness work, and even establishing her own aesthetics practice in Southern California.
After watching her colleagues suffer under the abusive demands that full-time, hospital-based employment in 2020 imposed on them, Dr. Lawrence-Reid developed the Doctoring Differently curriculum in order to give Physicians permission to choose themselves and transform their individual passions and expertise into gratifying careers with increased income, tremendous freedom, and enhanced quality of life.
Dr. Lawrence-Reid is a proud Boston-area native currently based in San Diego, California. She attended Wake Forest University, University of Massachusetts Medical School, and she completed pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York.
